Soroptimist International of Greater Ft. Lauderdale was founded on October 17, 1946.  The first major project was to assist the Salvation Army Red Kettle Drive in December and we continue our dedication ever since that first holiday season.  The club is committed to the Broward Human Trafficking Coalition to stop human and sex trafficking by sponsoring events and speakers to help keep our community informed.  On a lighter side we enjoy honoring our scholarship winners each year and our annual Valentine’s Day Party for the Pace Center for Girls.

Great day at Sam’s Club Sunrise ringing the bell for Salvation Army! Thank you Barbara MooreMarjorie Raymore, Connie Baehr. Special thanks to our team coordinator Dorothy Mote-Thomas, and our musical accompaniment Ted!

Bras for a Cause!
When we learned that bras were among the most needed yet least donated items of clothing, our Club, Soroptimist International of Greater Fort Lauderdale, took this on as our Signature Project.

While donating a bra may seem like a small thing, it makes a big difference to women choosing between buying a bra and putting food on the table.

SI Fort Lauderdale has collected well over 1000 new and gently used bras in the past few years and donated them to local domestic abuse shelters. There is an on-going need for these personal items for victims of Domestic Abuse.

Most recently, we assisted the Salvation Army in their Toy Distribution.
A favorite event pre COVID-19 has been providing a meal and program support for the PACE center in Fort Lauderdale on Valentine’s Day. This year we made a short video encouraging the girls to continue to work toward their goals, We look forward to when we can again interact personally with those young women in 2022.
